How is it that some people seem to breeze along life, find their perfect partner, achieve all their goals and always seem to get lucky breaks when others are consistently unlucky? What is it that the lucky people have or do that the unlucky people don’t? Modern society suggests luck comes about from looks or certain personality traits and it is something you are born with, however is there more to it than that?!
Dr Richard Wiseman in his book The luck factor delves into this topic in further detail. In his research of hundreds of lucky and unlucky people, he has devised that there are 4 characteristics lucky people possess which keeps them lucky! These are:
- Lucky people create, notice and act upon the chance opportunities in their life! Each of us is presented with an abundance of chance opportunities, it is just the lucky people see them and act upon them and unlucky people don’t. Therefore the phrase ‘being in the right place at the right time’ is really just a matter of being in the right state of mind.
- Listen to your lucky hunches. Lucky people make successful decisions by using their intuition and gut feeling. Albert Einstein famously wrote ‘There is only the way of intuition’ And lucky people actually make steps to improving their intuition by meditating every day. Headspace and calm are 2 great places to start.
- Expect good fortune Lucky people’s expectations about the future help them fulfill their dreams and ambitions. Lucky people just expect their good luck to continue in the future! They attempt to achieve their goals, even if their chance of success is slim and persevere in the face of failure!
- Turn bad luck into good. Lucky people see the positive side of their bad luck. They are convinced that any ill fortune in their lives will work out for the best!
To summarise, if you start seeing the bright side of life, you will start feeling the effects of the bright side of life! Begin today and see how you feel!
